About Erstengt

Erstengt answers one question: is the mountain pass closed? Norway has more than a hundred mountain passes that close in winter, and their status is spread across the road authority's pages. Here they all sit in one list, with the opening season, closure probability and an alert option.

Where the data comes from

All status data comes from the Norwegian Public Roads Administration's open mountain pass API, fetched every quarter hour. The season windows (from/to dates) are the authority's own published tables. Opening and closure history is collected by this service itself from the 2026/27 season on. Weather on the pass pages comes from met.no.

The sources are public: fjelloverganger-backend.atlas.vegvesen.no and met.no. The road authority's data is licensed under NLOD 2.0.

What you can trust

The "now" status is the road authority's reported status. Windows and probabilities are statistics over typical conditions, not a guarantee: a pass may open earlier or later than usual. Always drive according to signage and the authority's latest messages.
